Iglu is a leading provider of cool purpose-built student accommodation. Set across 13 outstanding locations in Australia’s Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, Iglu offers the nurture and support of traditional student accommodation, combined with the flexibility of an off-campus lifestyle.

All properties are based in ultra-convenient locations within easy reach of major universities & colleges, public transport, shopping, restaurants and entertainment facilities.

The Challenge

Looking to implement a TV system across its portfolio of properties, Iglu faced two key challenges:

1. Renowned for its commitment to innovation and design, Iglu wanted to reflect this in its TV offering. The proposed solution needed to be modern, cutting-edge and, perhaps most importantly, stand up to the exacting demands of tech-obsessed Generation Z students. Essentially, this dictated the implementation of an APPs based, streaming platform.

2. Iglu were keen to avoid a costly reworking of the network infrastructure across its properties, and requested the delivery of a TV system across its ethernet network.

The Delivery

In accordance with the viewing habits of a young, tech savvy audience, Iglu were happy to cut the cord, delivering an exclusively apps based TV entertainment experience to its students – selected live TV content is of course available, via the downloading of APPS, offering extra options should they be desired.

ROOMNET collaborated with Iglu to curate a list of standard,  student relevant APPs, using MDM technology to remotely deploy the tailored interface to 1,109 Apple TV boxes across four locations.

ROOMNET’s proprietary APP, HAL, was used to design a series of branding / info & messaging slides to sit on public area TVs. and lastly, ROOMNET directly integrated with Iglu’s PMS, StatRez, to enable the remote cleardown of each Apple TV. This ensured login details and personal information was removed from the TV each time a student moved out of the room.

ROOMNET’s partnership with Iglu enabled the implementation of a premium in-room entertainment experience, fronted by the super-powered Apply TV platform.
