Paradise 2024 / High-Tech Hideaways
Synonymous with pristine white beaches, turquoise waters and an opulent hospitality experience, the Maldives stands proud as the world’s most luxurious travel destination.
1,192 coral islands lie resplendent in the Indian Ocean, offering a tropical paradise to all those lucky enough to visit.
Every aspect of the Maldives experience is meticulously crafted and carefully curated, providing unforgettable stays, magical memories, and a truly world class guest experience.
Luxury Technology
It goes without saying that the Maldives traveler is discerning, exacting, and expects luxury at every turn. So, what does this mean for a Maldives resort’s technology offering?
Well, it needs to be great! Of course it does, but in today’s tech-driven (tech-obsessed) world, the role of technology in the Maldives guest experience needs to be even better than great.
It needs to be seamless, it needs to work every time, it needs to be cutting-edge and it needs to exceed expectations, quietly improving every facet of the guest’s interaction with island life.
THE BEST In-Room Entertainment System
This is especially relevant for the in-room entertainment system, needing to deliver an ultra-premium television experience that’ll excite content-addicted guests (who’ll likely be spending a high proportion of their time in the guest room).
The Maldives tourist is looking to take it easy, and with downtime as important an activity as swimming and sunbathing, what better way to unwind than a movie, or favorite boxset?
Resorts can now take advantage of the Maldives recent drive to improve digital connectivity throughout the archipelago (read more about this here) and deliver a television experience that’s every bit as sexy as the infinity pool or sweeping sea view.
The Living Room TV Experience
The question is, what should constitute a Maldives standard television experience?
Perhaps most importantly, it needs to replicate the home environment. Traditionally, due to various technical peculiarities, the hospitality TV system has lagged behind its consumer counterpart. Multiple issues contribute to this shortfall, the two most obvious appearing in the form of cumbersome, slow, user interfaces, and a lack of content options and/or content restrictions.
The latter is a considerable handicap in today’s on-demand driven TV environment, with today’s user typically consuming OTT content via a series of services (both free and pay-to-watch streaming subscriptions) delivered as (native) apps on the TV.
Many / most hotel TV systems struggle to provide this, offering a diluted version of the living room TV system. Nobody wants to jump through hoops to cast their own content on the in-room TV (we've written an article about casting technologies here), and few are satisfied with a handful of apps, when (at the time of writing) over 200 streaming services are available.
Whilst many hotels make do with systems that fall short of the living room experience....hey, this is the Maldives! There must be no compromises here!
ROOMNET TV
ROOMNET’s Apple TV platform bypasses these issues, by providing a consumer Apple TV solution - used in the living rooms of over 50 millions people across the globe - and augmenting it with hospitality specific features. This provides the best of both worlds: the speed, power, content options and simplicity of a consumer TV system, with the security, operational efficiencies and branding opportunities provided by a hospitality specifc platform.
And you know what? Call us biased, but we think our Apple TV platform offers a better TV experience than most competing consumer-based systems. All that know and love Apple technology will recognise its power, innovation and intuitive operating system, alongside its seamless integration with Apple products and services.
ROOMNET in the Maldives
The Maldives tourist deserves THE very best technology experience.
And with this in mind, ROOMNET is excited to be expanding its footprint within this beautiful country - and is proud to partner with a number of prestigious resorts. These include: Huvafen Fushi Maldives, Kandolhu Maldives, Kuramathi Maldives, Milaidhoo Island Maldives, The Nautilus Maldives, Nova Maldives, Outrigger Maldives Maafushivaru and Velassaru Maldives.
We're delighted to report that we're currently implementing ROOMNET TV into two further Maldives resorts (watch this space for more details!), but naturally, are keen to expand our footprint in this incredible region - if only for the site visits...
