The multi-award-winning, Huvafen Fushi, is one of the Maldives' most luxurious resorts. Set within a lush tropical hideaway in the North Male Atoll, the island lies a 30 minute speedboat ride from Maldives capital, Male.
Each luxury bungalow features at least one private plunge pool, and a waterfront view. Guests can choose a beachside or ocean location, both offering resplendent views across aquamarine waters. Other facilities include open-air bathrooms and a butler service.
Many visit Huvafen Fushi to experience serenity, calm and tranquility, with each accommodation providing an escape from the hustle and bustle of life's minutiae. However, those that choose to venture out of their sanctuary can enjoy a lengthy list of memorable experiences, including scuba diving, big game fishing, dolphin cruises, yacht charters, jet skiing, parasailing amongst others...
Perhaps the jewel in Huvafen Fushi's crown is the world's only underwater spa, where guests are treated within an ethereal underwater world. Particularly magnificent is the SpaQuarium experience, transporting visitors into a panoramic kaleidoscope of nighttime sea life.
Life doesn't get much better than champagne in the SpaQuarium, but a close second best arrives in the form of the resort's four michelin-level restaurants, or drinks at the Maldives' first underground wine cellar, Vinum.
Naturally, Huvafen Fushi required a crème de la crème TV system to reflect the five-star experience that runs across every facet of the island's service offering.
The chosen TV system needed to provide an authentic home-away-from-home experience - offering a full catalogue catalogue of OTT content options, and a seamless, intuitive user experience.
The obvious solution was the implementation of a platform designed specifically for use in the home environment - step forward Apple TV!
But wait! you can't use a consumer platform in a hotel setting, we hear you say...
No, you absolutely can't. However, ROOMNET has augmented a consumer Apple TV, creating additional functionality that turns an Apple TV, into an Apple TV for hotels. Key features include:
- a proprietary hotel app, offering a series of branded information pages and videos, allowing hotels to inform and educate guests via text, images, QR codes and video content.
- reset functionality. This critically important feature resets the Apple TV, deleting all user credentials, login details, and any apps that a guest has downloaded. This can be done manually, or (recommended) automatically upon the guest check out - offering peace of mind to both guest and hotel.
- remote visibility and management of all Apple TVs via ROOMNET's CMS.
ROOMNET and Huvafen Fushi worked closely together to facilitate the QR-based self-installation of 68 x Apple TVs across the island's guest properties (a further 5 Apple TVs were connected to public area displays). Each Apple TV was integrated with the resort's PMS, enabling the automatic cleardown of TVs upon guest check-out.
The island's portfolio of 48 international channels were organised into a genre-based line-up, offering a quick and modern browsing experience.
In tandem with the technical implementation, Huvafen Fushi's marketing function collaborated with ROOMNET to created a branded TV interface, including the island's promotional video and a series of information pages, advertising F&B, activities etc.
